  • ✅ Ready to use — no mixing required
  • ✅ Rapid-drying — touch-dry in 1–2 hours
  • ✅ Keys onto epoxy, polyurethane, polyurea and fibreglass surfaces
  • ✅ Fully compatible with TAL cementitious underlayments and screeds
  • ✅ Coverage ±5.5m² per litre (±27.5m² per 5L bucket)

When to Use TAL Primercoat

Use TAL Primercoat when laying a cementitious underlayment or screed over any resin-based surface — existing or newly applied epoxy coatings, polyurethane floors, polyurea, fibreglass, and similar impervious substrates. Without a keying slurry, cementitious products cannot bond to the smooth resin surface and will delaminate.

Pack Contents & Coverage

  • Pack: 5L (7.5kg) ready-mix plastic bucket — no mixing required
  • Coverage: ±5.5m² per litre / ±27.5m² per bucket (per coat)
  • Application thickness: 0.2mm – 1mm
  • Colour: light green wet, dries to grass-green
  • Actual coverage will vary depending on surface profile and site conditions

Application

  1. Surface preparation (existing resin surfaces): Diamond grind to remove all dirt, grease and surface contaminants and produce an open, lightly textured surface. Solvent wipe with TAL Epoxy Cleaning Fluid.
  2. Clean: Vacuum or sweep all dust and loose particles thoroughly. Vacuuming is preferred.
  3. Stir well before use. Do not dilute with water or add any additives.
  4. Apply with a short-pile lambswool roller, ensuring 100% coverage of the substrate. Any gaps in coverage can result in delamination of the following layer.
  5. Allow to dry for 1–2 hours at 23°C / 50% RH until touch-dry with no visible transfer when rubbing over the surface.
  6. Apply TAL cementitious underlayment or screed compound directly onto the dried Primercoat.

Note: TAL Primercoat cures by water evaporation. Thicker applications, cold conditions or poor ventilation will extend drying time. Do not apply below 10°C or above 30°C. Do not dilute or adulterate the product in any way.

Important: For installations on post-tensioned concrete suspended slabs where significant building movement is anticipated, a wet epoxy bond coat is essential. Contact the TAL Technical Advice Centre for advice.

Storage & Shelf Life
