When to Use TAL Profix Plus
TAL Profix Plus is a water-based, modified high-strength permanent acrylic adhesive for the installation of vinyl and textile (carpet) floor coverings, including those with exceptionally coarse backings such as needlepunch and coir carpeting. It is specifically designed for floor coverings that have very high levels of memory, where a standard adhesive may not provide sufficient hold.
Suitable for application onto concrete, screeds, underlayment compounds, tiles, wood, vinyl and metal access flooring.
Important: TAL Profix Plus is NOT suitable for adhering LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tiles), PVC-backed Vinyl Tiles, or carpeting coated with a rubber or bitumen-based wear underlayment. Use TAL Profix for standard vinyl and carpet tile installations.
Pack Contents & Coverage
Supplied in a 20 litre plastic container.
- 1.5mm serrated trowel (vinyl sheeting and backed carpeting): ±6.0m² per litre — ±120m² per container
- 3mm serrated trowel (coarse, unbacked carpeting such as needlepunch): ±3.0m² per litre — ±60m² per container
Actual coverage depends on site conditions and workmanship.
Application
Allow the floor covering to acclimatise in the installation area for a minimum of 48 hours. The substrate must be sound, smooth, clean and dry, with a moisture content of 3% or less — where moisture exceeds this, apply TAL VaporStop HB first. Prime very porous surfaces with TAL Floor Primer.
Shake the container well before use and do not dilute. Apply with the correct serrated trowel, allow the adhesive to flash off (±15 minutes) until slightly tacky, then press the floor covering into place and roll with a 64kg three-sectional flooring roller (except cushion flooring). Allow 2 hours before light foot traffic, 12–24 hours before full-service conditions, and 72 hours before any wet cleaning.
Storage & Shelf Life
6 months from date of manufacture when stored in dry internal conditions between 10°C and 25°C, out of direct sunlight. Never store directly on a concrete floor. Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use.
Health & Safety
For use by experienced installers. Contains solvents (less than 5%) — work in well-ventilated areas and do not inhale or ingest. Wear gloves and eye protection. Clean tools with warm soapy water before the product dries; dried adhesive requires TAL Cleaning Solvent. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet before use. Keep out of reach of children.
